\n\tWhile guesting on an episode of the Jay Shetty Podcast<\/em> posted Monday (Sept. 29) \u2014 more than two years after the pop icon spent four days in a coma after being hospitalized<\/a> for a severe bacterial infection in June 2023 \u2014 Madge revealed that her late mother appeared before her when she was still unconscious. \u201cI was almost there on the other side, and I had a conscious moment,\u201d she recalled. \u201cMy mother appeared to me, and she said, \u2018Do you want to come with me?\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd I said, \u2018No,\u2019\u201d the star continued. \u201cMy assistant was in the room with me, but I was still unconscious, but she heard me say, \u2018No.\u2019 And then when I did eventually wake up, I realized that the \u2018No\u2019 was about me needing to forgive and make good with people that I still held grudges against.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOne of those people, Madonna said, was her younger brother Christopher Ciccone, who died<\/a> at the age of 63 in October. The pair\u2019s relationship was strained in the years after the seven-time Grammy winner became famous, with Ciccone at one point accusing his sister of outing him as gay during an interview. At the time of his death, however, Madonna wrote on Instagram, \u201cWe did not speak for sometime but When my brother got sick \u2026 we found our way back to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Jay Shetty<\/em>, Madge elaborated on how her vision of her mother, who died when she was five years old, inspired her to mend her relationship with Christopher. \u201cIt was him being ill and reaching out to me and saying, \u2018I need your help,\u2019 and me having that moment, like, \u2018Am I going to help my enemy?\u2019\u201d she said on the podcast. \u201cThat\u2019s how it felt. And I just did \u2026 It was such a load off my back, such a weight that was removed, baggage that I could put down to finally be able to be in a room with him and holding his hand \u2014 even if he was dying \u2014 and saying, \u2018I love you, and I forgive you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe interview \u2014 which largely focused on Madonna\u2019s spiritual journey \u2014 comes more than a year after she finished her Celebration Tour after previously having to postpone the trek due to her medical crisis. She\u2019s been open about how difficult the recovery process has been since she developed the infection that led to her coma, telling fans <\/a>at one of her tour shows in March 2024 that she wasn\u2019t even sure whether she\u2019d be able to walk again. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was pretty scary \u2014 obviously I didn\u2019t know for four days, because I was in an induced coma, but when I woke up, the first word I said was, \u2018No,’\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI\u2019m pretty sure God was saying to me, \u2018You wanna come with us? You wanna come with me, you wanna go this way?\u2019 And I said, \u2018No. No!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
