\n\tApparently, there are a lot of people out there who really, really can\u2019t stand the thought of listening to someone sing in Spanish, even for just 10 minutes. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn light of Bad Bunny<\/a>\u2018s appointment as the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner, Turning Point USA has announced its plans to host an alternate mid-game concert \u2014 featuring \u201canything in English\u201d when it comes to the music.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe conservative political group founded by late MAGA commentator Charlie Kirk broke the news on Thursday (Oct. 9), sharing a post on X reading, \u201cIt\u2019s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe program is intended to celebrate \u201cfaith, family and freedom,\u201d according to a graphic included in the post.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe organization also noted that the show\u2019s performers will be announced \u201csoon,\u201d although it appears as though no artists have actually been booked yet. On the website for the \u201cAll American Halftime Show,\u201d there\u2019s a poll asking people to vote for which type of music they\u2019d like to hear come game day on Feb. 8 next year, including country, pop, \u201cworship,\u201d Americana and classic rock, as well as an option the simple says \u201canything in English.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBillboard <\/em>has reached out to Bad Bunny\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201canything in English\u201d choice points to the main complaint many MAGA Republicans have expressed online in response to Jay-Z\u2019s Roc Nation selecting Benito<\/a> to perform at next year\u2019s Super Bowl in Santa Clara, Calif. Many are upset that someone whose music is primarily in Spanish would be asked to headline, while White House advisor Corey Lewandowski recently said <\/a>it\u2019s \u201cshameful they\u2019ve decided to pick somebody who seems to hate America so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPresident Donald Trump also fueled the fire by calling Bad Bunny a \u201cridiculous\u201d choice. \u201cI never heard of him,\u201d the twice-impeached politician said recently<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t know who he is. I don\u2019t know why they\u2019re doing it. It\u2019s, like, crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s unclear where people may have gotten the notion that Bad Bunny in any way stands in opposition to the U.S. The musician is from Puerto Rico, which is an unincorporated territory of the country. And while Benito did elect to not play any American dates on his upcoming tour, he\u2019s explicitly stated that the choice was not made \u201cout of hate\u201d for the Land of the Free.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve performed there many times,\u201d he told I-D <\/em><\/a>in September. \u201cAll of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I\u2019ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S. \u2026 But there was the issue of, like, f\u2013king ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it\u2019s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs Billboard<\/em>\u2018s chief content officer of Latin\/Espa\u00f1ol Leila Cabo points out, however, there is nothing inherently political about Bad Bunny being tapped for halftime. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAs those of us who speak Spanish daily can attest, many still look down on Spanish as a language, and definitely on the people who speak it,\u201d she wrote in a recent op-ed<\/a>. \u201cLet\u2019s acknowledge that having Bad Bunny headline the Super Bowl is a bold choice \u2014 but let\u2019s also be real about the reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
